The Roles an Estate Usually Needs
Here are the roles that come up most often once a home is part of an estate. Some families need every one of them. Others need two.
Probate Attorney
Files the petition, answers to the court, and tells you what the estate may and may not do.
Appraiser
Sets a defensible value as of the date of death, which the court and the heirs both lean on.
Estate Sale Company
Prices and sells the contents, once the family has taken out whatever it wants to keep.
Cleanout Crew
Clears what is left, hauls it away, and hands back an empty house that is ready to show.
Property Maintenance
Changes the locks, keeps the yard down, and handles the small repairs a vacant home needs.
